Hi all,

Name's Houston. By day, I'm an Account Manager for Vertical Measures, a content marketing agency based in Phoenix, Arizona. By night, I'm a home brew wannabe.

I just started home brewing. This morning, in fact. My brother bought me a Mr. Beer beer kit for my 23rd birthday (which was back in July on the 2nd) and I spent this morning getting it set up.

The recipe is the standard "Classic American Light," and if all goes well, I'll be drinking the fruits of my labors in 4 weeks.

I look forward to deeply entrenching myself in the forums here and can't wait to forge some friendships in the home brew community at large.

My wife bought me an antiquated Mr. Beer kit at a garage sale which got me started. This was about 4 months ago and the yeast date was 2009. The yeast was obviously not going to be any good so I went to the LHBS and got some S-04 along with a pound of DME (to replace the alcohol booster that was like a rock). It turned out not too bad thanks to reading info on forums such as this. I'd been wanting to brew for many years and now since we've moved I have a nice cool basement and a wonderful woman who supports me in this hobby. She also loves the SWMBO tag.

Welcome to the best hobby around. Knowing our temperatures here in Arizona, make sure you are fermenting at a good degree.
Don't hesitate to ask me (and everyone around) for help on anything. I know that I personally for started with Mr. Beer as well.
