I think this is the right forum. I'm lookin for ideas on how to turn my second of two 6gal buckets into a bottling bucket. I'm gonna get a spigot in a day or two and I want to stick it on the side near the bottom, I've seen pictures of others who have done this but I can't seem to find them now. If you could post some of your pics or atleast point me in the right direction, id appriciate it :)

There's not much to it, you decide how high up you want it, drill or cut a hole and place it. I used one of these hole saws, punch a guidehole, place the bucket on a piece of wood, and then drill from inside.

A pic of mine is in here, https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/bottling-tips-homebrewer-94812/

I would rather keep the bucket intact and use and auto-siphon with a bottling wand. That way there is no need to worry about how clean the valve is that your going to install.

the guys i brew with got started we bought one form the lhbs in san jose. Mistake, hole cut on the large size. so you had to tighten the snot out of it to keep form leaking. Then the foam washer stretched out so it would squirt out of place. eventually replaced it with a red silicone o-ring.

so my tips if you do go with the valve, 1. take it a part when not in-use. 2. some one on here used a stopper with a hole and a pice of 3/8 racking cane to make a dip tube so you don't have to tip the bucket.

edit>> 1a. cut the hole so the spigot fits as tight as possible.

I use one of these to drill my holes. Mine has a square shank and I just use a 3/8 inch speed handle with the correct size square socket and go slow. This looks like it would work in a variable speed drill.

Worked great with a nice clean cut.
