Hello, I'm working on getting my kegerator built. I've done a bunch of bottling so far, but haven't done any kegging yet. Once I have beer kegged, can I bottle it from the keg? (i would just want to bottle a few bottles if need be) If so, what steps should I take, and what equipment do I need? Thanks

Absolutely. Invest in a counter pressure bottle filler or a Blichmann Beer Gun (or similar beer gun). You can bottle only what you need and you can do it when the beer is nice and clear (my beers get much more clear in the keg than I can ever achieve by bottle conditioning).

Just do a search for beer gun and you'll see what I'm talking about. There are a few good you tube videos showing how they work.

A racking cane inserted inside the cobra tap and a drilled #2 stopper on the cane will work. A beergun is much easier and allows you to purge the bottle with co2 and fill all with the same device.

If I were you I would keg the beer then build yourself the DIY Beer Gun and use it to fill the bottles while the beer is still flat and then use the coopers sugar drops. The DIY beer gun works but foaming can be a hassle same with the Blichmann Beer Gun. I have both but have found it to be easier to just use my beer gun to purge and fill the bottles while the beer is flat and to just add the drop to the bottles to carbonate in the bottle. You can also just a tap or picnic tap without the racking cane part when the beer is flat.

not sure what you're doing with the bottles but when i've wanted to take some beer with me to a friends house i've been just filling a growler or two directly from the tap. the longest any has lasted has been 4-5 hours but seems to hold the carbonation.

You need a beer gun, or more technically called a counter pressure bottle filler. You can DIY with a picnic tap and a piece of tubing, but it won't work nearly as well.

This is simply not true. I just opened a beer that I bottled from a keg 4 weeks ago using the picnic tap and No. 2 drilled stopper (see BMBF thread for details) and it had great carbonation. More technology than that, is just not necessary.

up in the vendors section their is a member here who is making and selling them. I wish I would have seen that before I bought the blichman beer gun. The blichman is a nifty little gadget tho
