Ok, newbie again.

This is a pretty simple question, but again, me knowing absolutly nothing doesnt help. I heard to buy sam adams...

Any other good dark beers that are pop top??

I know black butte porter.. im limited here, i dont really have a good beer store around this crap part of washington. I could bite the bullet and buy just the bottles, but why not buy beer in the bottles already. Sounds like a pretty good way to get bottles.

Anyone with some good help on some beer to buy, kinda cheap, that have pop tops? I mean, ive drank some beer in my day, but never really thought to remember if they were pops or not.

Basically you want anything that is in a brown bottle with a pop top... You can use green or clear bottles too, however you need to keep them out of the light... Light and beer don't mix, it causes the beer to skunk.

A couple off the top of my head... Guinness (use needlenose pliers to remove the widgets), Smithwick's, Harp (all three of those are owned by the same company), Beck's (green)...

Try recyling places, your local bar...

There is a large argument between twist tops and non-twist. I use twist tops and have had no problem and am phasing them out anyway with non-twists when I can get the bottles. $AU18 for a six pack of my fav beer is a bit expensive though.

I like Bridgeport ESB, and use those for extras. The labels do tend to leave some silver metallic floaties in the water, but I can get them off with zero problem by soaking in some PBW for about a half hour. Because of the floaties, you'll need to clean the bottles again in a cleaner solution though.

Yeah just hit up recycling centers/drop-off locations. I got about a gazillion bottles that way.

Sam Adams are the best - not only do they cap great, they're the easiest out there to de-label.

Yeah they are. Just put them in warm water and the labels will float right after in a short amount of time. I just don't like that "Samuel Adams" is cut into the glass.

As for which beers to get, chances are, the more small time and local the brewery is, the better the chance they've got the generic, non-twist off, brown bottles that are prefered by homebrewers. I know there are tons of microbrews in the Pacific Northwest, so chances are you'll be able to find something you like in the right kind of bottle.

One of the reasons I like Sam Adams is they have so many different beers. In addition to the seasonal brews like Winter lager & Double Bock, ect there are the Master brews like Hef, Black lager, Brown Ale. There is also the holiday brews like old feziwig and holiday porter. So you can try many different styles while collecting good bottles. They make a pretty good IPA too. You probably can't get Sweetwater out there in Wa.

I gonna mention this just as a reinforcement to what others have said, you probably want to stick with brown bottles

Personally I use new belguim brewery bottles exclusively. the labels come right off with a little warm water and soap. I know they have new belguim embossed on them but I've always just liked the shape of the bottles and I wanted to stick with one type so they all match

Beer guy at the LHBS told me yesterday to make sure and get bottles with the lip under the top. Something for the capper to grab on to otherwise it won't work.
just my 2 cents.

I've been using whatever I can get my hands on - except twist off's. Most work pretty good. I'm starting to get enough of the plain generic brown bottles that I can get rid of the ones with the brewery name formed into the glass. I also want mine to match, but I'd prefer them to be plain.
