Wondering if those really nice Nu Wave cooktop cookers can handle the weight of a 5 gallon pot with the water, DME etc. in it and have enough power to boil, Wife won't let me brew in the house. So I'm thinking of using a Nu WAVE in the garage. Any suggestions?

Not using that particular model, but an 1800W 120V induction cooker puts out enough power to hit boil for a 5 gallon batch at 6.8 gallon preboil volume...just...with insulation...and being at high enough altitude that boiling is 204F up here.
So for a partial boil batch, yeah, you'll have enough power.

I got the Burton 1800 120v for my HLT and the Avanco 3500 220v for my boil. It takes ~90 min to bring 5 gal to mashout temp of 190*. It is good for small batch and I use it next to the Avanco when making Scotch ales to boil 2 gal of first runnings. I didn't like the reviews of the Nu wave.
