Boil off

Evening, back making beer tonight after three months off due to a big mouth bubbler imploding on me. Anyways, my boil off tonight was way too much. I was doing a three gallon batch and ended up with a gallon and half. I topped it off to make three gallons. Question is this, will this make my end beer watery?

It shouldn't because 3 gallons was your target to begin with. So you boiled down to 1.5 gallons. This means that you've concentrated all the sugars and whatnot down into a 1.5 gallon volume.

Adding 1.5 gallons back will just put you where you wanted to be.

Now - as I understand it, if the boil was extra long, you could end up with some extra caramel tones you weren't expecting. This is a technique for strong Scottish ales (Wee heavy ales) where you boil for 2 hours to achieve rich caramel tones in the final beer.

Thanks. The boil is always different every time. This helps me feel better. Now if I could fast forward till the end result. Can't wait for this one.
