This is my first batch of mead! I've been reading/following these forum trying to absorb as much information as possible before I started. I'm doing two test batches, both with raspberry blossom honey, one will be with elderflower and the other is traditional.
The elderflower Mead (half gallon)
1.5 pounds of honey
WLS300 yeast (made a starter only using 1/2)
Made a tea with the elderflowers
1 gram of Fermaid K
Topped off with cold boiled water
I know i messed up with the Fermaid, i measured out enough for 1 gallon but goofed and added it to the tea and poured it all in a .5 gallon batch.
I left the house for an hour and when i came back i notice that krausen was coming out the top of the airlock! When I went over to clean up the mess the second I touched it the stopper blew off, I quickly grab my other airlock that was sitting in sanitizer and reapplied!
At this point I really just want to let it sit and see where it goes but I like to know what do you guys think? Is there any other points that I messed up on?
