Just an FYI to Riptide owners, if you have an early version with the BLACK impeller, it may seize up on you.
I was one of the first to order one and last night (about my 8th time using it) during whirlpooling at 170 degrees my pump seized up and stopped spinning. Upon disassembling the pump, I noticed the impeller was very stiff onto the stainless shaft it spins on. It had expanded somehow.
I notified Blichmann and they said if your impeller is black, it's from an early batch that had this issue. They are sending me a brown impeller now. So if yours is black I would recommend getting it replaced rather than stopping amidst your brew day.
