My favorite style of beer is an APA. 2nd is a wheat ale and 3rd is a Kolsch.
I have noticed over time that the line between IPA and APA is getting blurred.A lot of APAs
I run into are over hopped.
And also noticed that I have an unpleasant hang over effect from strong hops even if I like the taste.
Must be some natural chemical in hops that I have a slight allergy to.
So I was thinking of blending styles in the glass.
What do you think of half APA and half Wheat ale??? Anyone tried this???

That's a bizarre conclusion to arrive at given your problem. I would simply stop buying overly hopped pale ales. Or even better, brew ales that are suited to your tastes.

Im all for experimenting, and what you propose can be done with other liqueurs, but not with carbed, bottled and conditioned beer.

It's not really what you want, it isn't what the brewmaster intended, and it doesn't solve your problem.

That being said, go ahead and throw some wheat into your next brew and go outside of the style.

+1 on brewing to your tastes. It's your beer, so make it yours! That being said, same is true for your drinking purposes. You bought it and are free to pour them together! Forget the brewmaster. That's you now. However, as far as actually condoning this practice, I can't. I only mix things that I know work (black and tan, snakebite, etc). But hey, someone had to try it and see that it worked. Maybe you're onto something! Just enjoy yourself, and hopefully find your answer :mug:

Related, I like Belgian style ipas. Wheat beer esters could probably work well too. Let us know how it tastes

You're talking about from your own kegs, or when you are out? Either way, I say go for it. I keg and will often have two IPAs or APAs on tap at once. I will blend them frequently depending on my taste at the time. Perfect way to have more options.

I dont know about bizarre.... but I guess from a brewers pov I should just brew differently.
And I wish craft brewers would respect the true APA style from the NW that started the whole craft thing. Enough hops to taste them... but a smooth body and not dry hopping.
If we want a IPA we will buy one.
