Hi all!
So I’ve ruined many batches of dry hopped IPAs with too much hop or too much of specific hops anyway, resulting in a flavor/aroma I just can’t stand: “Blackcurrant” or what I find to be very close to Blackcurrant leaves.
Some call this “Catty” but I don’t get that reference since there are no cats in my life.
I try to avoid this at all cost these days and I just ordered some 2017 Galaxy hops that I wanted to use together with Loral in the dry hop of an Ebbegarden fermented NEIPA. On the package of the Galaxy hops amongst other descriptions of flavors reads “Blackcurrant”. :-o
Have any of you experienced this with Galaxy?
This is my recipe, 5 gallons:
100% Extra Pale Maris Otter (OG 1.050)
3oz Centennial @0min
3oz Loral @ Dry hop
3oz Galaxy @ Dry hop
Ebbegarden @80F (5 days)
1:1,5 Ca to So ratio
(Dry hops co pitched with yeast and beer kegged after 5 days)
