Hello, i started into beer making so i bought a kit of blackrock mexican lager. Has anyone made this? Or have any tips on how to make a good batch. I have it fermenting at 68 in a glass carboy. Should i secondary? Should i ferment at lower temp? And tips would be a great help.

Without being familiar with that kit, I'm assuming you want to get that fermentation temperature down ASAP! I assume they they gave you lager yeast.

According to the instructions, the temperature is fine...I am surprised, but they obviously aren't using lager yeast in this kit.

Secondary isn't necessary and extra time on the yeast might help.

If you want something clean like a lager, go ahead an lager this after the fermentation completes; 0C-4C for a few weeks should be good.

Ok i will leave it in the primary. Its a slow bubble every 4seconds so figure it will take awhile but im in no rush just as long as it turns out good. I also have coopers real ale fermenting beside it bubbling twice as much and a batch of mead fermenting also. I just started but wanted to have a few options on the go .

Coopers and blackrock 'lager' kits are actually ale kits that have been hopped to taste like a lager. But it's not lager. But it is beer though.

Actually Coopers Mexican cervesa has a hybrid lager/ale yeast strain. So it can be lagered.

I have coopers real ale started the same time sitting beside the mexican lager and the real ale is done already the lager is still bubbling once every few seconds.

Today I bottled my Mexican lager i batch primed 250g dextrose 2cups boiling water. I never got a gravity reading at the start but my F.G is 1.008 I was wondering what my starting gravity was so i could know the alcohol %. I used 1kg of dextrose and 23L water and the can of extract. Can anyone tell me what my starting gravity probably was?
