Hey Guys
I want to do another cider, i have done 2 hard ciders..
the last one went very bad with lots of bottle bombs, so until i get a beer fridge to cold crash, i want to try doing a extract cider.

Has anyone done a black rock?
How did it turn out?

Im guessing it came out really sweet..is there any way to add extra tart/bitterness to it?

any input would be appreciated!

cheers

Not familiar with what Black Rock cider is, but the best bet to make a cider tart is to add Malic Acid. About 6 - 9 teaspoons of dry / powdered Malic Acid should be good for 5 - 6 gallons, but like everything else, do it to your personal taste.

I am recommending Malic Acid because that is the natural acid found in apples. Granny Smith apples have a higher concentration of Malic Acid, so they are more tart.

Thanks..may get some tonight then and give it a bash..

question then, the Malic Acid won't add to the carbination will it?
as stated in my 1st post, i had bombs, and am abit nervous about over carbination..
but i think that was just a hard cider issue...

does anyone know what the carbination is like on a extract cider?

Cheers Mike!
sorry for the stupid questions!

will get onto that tonight :)
