I use dried bitter orange peel in my summer hefeweisens. My wife has been eating TONS of blood oranges in the last few weeks. Can I use the blood orange peels instead of the bitter orange peels? Are they the same thing? What kind of differencesin flavor should I expect?

It's a different type of orange so it's going to be slightly different. But still awsome. I love blood oranges, I've thought about using the peels as well.

You'll have to play around to see if the peel is sweet, or bitter. Maybe chewing a bit of it and a bit of bitter orange peel will give you an idea.

IIRC Seville oranges are used in bitter orange peel. Curaco is used for sweet...

Blood oranges tend to be awesomely sweet. So probably use them in place of sweet orange peel.
