Just started brewing an oatmeal stout. Following the mash-out, I realized that my bag had a tear in in and I wound up dumping a fair amount of grain into the wort. What I ended up doing was taking a strainer that I lined with a cloth with a fine weave and strained the wort into another pot where it is boiling right now. Is this batch going to be okay or should I go for a do over?

Thank you,
Casey

I imagine that you'll be fine. Staining it in to another vessel is fairly analogous to lifting your brew bag and having it drain without any rips. Pre-boil stuff can be fairly forgiving.

Should be just fine! Even if you have any little grains make it through, they might even settle out during fermenting and everything will be fine. Great damage control thinking on straining in through a cloth before going to the boil. :mug:

I read the thread title like you cried into your BIAB mash...

By straining it out you will be just fine. Carry on!

I actually have just been using laundry bags. That said, I am probably going to buy one of your bags in the conning l coming days so I have something a little more sturdy.

Do it. I just bought one and it is fantastic. The drawstring is a great feature I never knew I needed until I used it.
