I normally add my immersion cooler at 20 minutes. That way I get the wort back to boiling before adding the finishing hops.

Would there be any issues putting the cooler in after 15 minutes of steeping the wort?

I want to ensure the I/C gets sanitized by the hot wort.

I put mine in at the 15 minute mark - works fine for me.

I haul mine out the garage and at this time of year it is very cold. When I put it in the wort, it takes a few minutes to get back to boiling. If I added it after the hop steep, it would help- cooling, but I need to ensure it gets sanitized.

We use a sanitizer bucket of diluted iodophor for end-of-boil tool storage, and if we remember we'll move the chiller to the wort around the 15-minute mark. But the iodophor is a nice guarantee in case we forget.

I put mine in a pot of very hot water at the 30 min mark, then I add it to the wort at 10 mins. It's basically pre-heated this way, and it doesn't take but 30 to 60 seconds to get back to a boil again..

I should mention that before I put it in the hot water pot I spray it with starsan about 3 or 4 times..

I put,my IC into the boil at 15 mins, when, its ready to cool, I just turn my ic on and let it do its thing

I just stick my IC in a bucket of Star-san for a few minutes and then stick it in the wort with the cooling water already running. I find that putting it in the boil risks have the hoses drape into the flames or soften too much.

I've considered doing this as well. It seems like it would be fine as long as it's well sanitized, plus I would think it chills the wort much quicker that way..

I always have about 5 gal of starsan solution mixed up. I keep it in gallon milk jugs. If I start using it for my chiller I would likely mix up 5 gal and only use it for the chiller and keep another 5 gal batch mixed up for all of my other equipment..

I put mine in a homer bucket of star San. It removed the oxides and sanitizes. Plus I don't like that it stops the boil if I add it then.

I stick it in at 30 minutes and recirculate through my whirlpool until it's boiling again, shut the pump off, add whirlfloc, nutrient, and then flavor additions.

I never have a BUCKET of star-san, it would last me an eternity,

I make it up about once every 3-4 months and keep it in a 5 gallon Lowes bucket. I fill my spray bottles with it and during brewing or racking, I just toss all the equipment and tubing into the bucket. No need to spray it or worry about missing a spot.
