I'm going to be in Boise this weekend and want to know which breweries the locals recommend?
I like big IPA and sour beers.
Thanks

Well, I'm inclined to say my IPA is the best in Boise...but if you're looking for commercial examples, I'd hit up 10 Barrel, Sockeye, Payette, and Edge.

We have started getting some Payette here in Utah, excellent beers. They have a RyePA called Rodeo that is really good but I think it is seasonal. I haven't tried their IPA yet.

Might also want to stop in at PreFunk downtown. It's a pub/growler fill station in an old garage, but they usually have several IPAs and several sours on tap, usually from local breweries. It's a fun place to hang out either way. The Woodland Empire brewery is right next door and has some fun offerings, though I'm not sure they have any sours.

A lot of people like Crooked Fence, too. They have several IPAs, a hoppy Pale, and a hoppy Red. I think they all kind of taste the same, so I don't frequent it, but I know several people who enjoy their stuff.

If you're after a brewpub experience a couple good bets are Highlands Hollow's "Hippie Shake" or Sockeye's "Dagger Falls". Both places have a decent menu as well. 10 Barrel downtown is good too, but they are interlopers from that OTHER state (Oregon).

For really big IPA's the Dagger Falls from Sockeye seems to be well like, myself, not a fan of it. The EDGE Brewery Just unleashed four new IPA's yesterday. I have had three of them and the are really good. Good food there as well. Not many bars have sours on tap. HomeBrewStuff has a tasting room that had a lambic this week and have a great Sour bottle selection. Brewforia offer those as well, just getting pricy buying from them anymore. !0 Barrel is ok, big fad thing, many other local brews put out better quality. Crooked fence in ok as well as Payettes for IPA's Payette has some good lagers and ales. Slanted rock in Meridian has some really good beers all around. If on the East side of Boise hit up Beer Thierty for a good selection. Really depends on what part of town you are going to be on.
