Am trying to use beer smith but it doesn't seem to be useful for 1 gallon batches of BIAB.... What am i doing wrong or is just not that advanced?

You need to customize the equipment set-up and brewing steps to match your system and methods to get the best results from BeerSmith. It is a commonly underestimated part of getting the program to work correctly for the way you brew.

^ This. Go over to the beersmith site and search for equipment profile. There are several articles and examples on how to set up a custom profile. Once you have that set up, the rest should fall into place.

Ok I have a 12qt pot, maybe I'm just confused on the size of the grain bill it's saying like 8lbs is that right? I thought 1 gallon batches require 2-4 lbs... I was lookin at a blue moon clone to help get my woman interested in brewing...

It might help to post your recipe and basic equipment/process steps for us and we can give some more specific advice.
