I use the kit from www.mrbeer.com and for a really simple process, it makes great beer and cider.. i'm now looking at going to a larger set up with a primary and secondary, but I cant complain about the beer i've made so far.

Has anyone ever used this kit before? It seems very easy and not too messy; I live in an apt so I don't have much room...

Thanks!:fro:

for the $110 you're gonna spend - imho you could get a bigger bang for your buck out of a system like this:

http://morebeer.com/product.html?product_id=15909

$69 for the equipment and it qualifies for more beer's free shipping program.

then you'll have some money left over to buy your first ingredient kit here:

http://morebeer.com/browse.html?category_id=100022&keyword=&x=1&y=1

$18 - KIT104 : American Lite - Extract

then you'll need some bottles:

$8.95 x 2

and a bag of caps:

$4

You need a MINIMUM of two buckets - one to ferment in and one (with a spigot) for bottling. Bottling out of your primary is going to make for a mess of gloopy yeast.

Go with the morebeer solution, or any of the ones from northernbrewer or anywhere else.

Hey...get the beer machine....it's high quality and comes with a c02 connection....iv'e used one several times and it works great...a friend of mine used mr beer and it went flat before the cheap plastic trash can was empty..lost pressure...you gotta be able to add co2...the beer machine all you have to do is put in another c02 cartridge and it's good to go..and it's a heck of a lot easier to clean.

Thanks again for the info. I like the one at morebeer.com. It looks handy and complete. The one at beermachine.com looks a bit cheap & hokey, and there is only 1 barrel, which I'm sensing is not the best way to go. I'm also not sure I want that thing in my fridge. I guess the best bet is the morebeer one.

Cheers!:fro:

I've done a few no-boils, they work for some styles. The biggest problem is, pre-hopped extracts can get off-flavors after a while on the shelf. If you added a large pot, about 8-10 quarts, you could steep grains and boil your hops, then add unhopped extracts. Palmer calls this late addition brewing.
