I have two passions in life, craft beers and the outdoors. I love to fish, hunt, and especially backpack. Lately I have been drinking an average of about 2 beers a day.

I was wondering if drinking this much could potentially effect my backpacking?

How many days are you usually out backpacking? You'll be carrying extra weight, and beer takes up valuable space. I recently saw a Boneyard growler that looked like a collapsible mylar pouch. So you can save weight on containers, or if you want to go commercial you can carry cans. Another issue is keeping the beer cold (depending on where you are). We usually just take some bourbon with us while backpacking. The beer is for when we can have ice filled coolers at the camp site.

Liquor in a cheapie plastic water bottle for backing, homebrew when I get back home.

2 beers a day won't ruin your health. Now 2 beers a minute...

i am an outdoorsman as often as i can be, and enjoy beer as well.

when i am outside, if the situation permits, i prefer to have beer but for a long hike or something like that, beer just doesnt work well for me. so i usually dont even bring anything to drink at all.

if i were to spend a long time outside though and rough it somewhere, i would probably only bring a flask of something. easier to handle. you know as well as i do that available space and weight are very important when going long distance

No. When I had my most physically demanding and outdoors job, ski patrol, I drank the most beer.

Makes perfect sense. Fats don't make us fat, carbs do. So the more active we are, the more beer we should drink, and vice versa.

Hmmm, better get off the computer and go split a cord of firewood. I wanna drink a lot of beer tonight. :D

As long as you maintain exercise and a healthy diet, two beers a day will not hurt your backpacking ability. I probably average about two beers a day also and have no problems with my sports and outdoor activities (hiking, surfing, hockey, etc...)

I don't like to drink a lot during physical activity, but I have stuck a can or two in my pack for when I get to my destination out on the trail. I am usually along a river fly fishing, so I just stick the can in the river for 15 minutes while I'm setting up my rod and it's nice and cold!
