Beer Bottles Needed

I am looking for some bottles around the Buffalo, New York area. I figured I would have drank enough by bottling time, but it has been a week and I am about 20 short.

I could buy some from the local home brew store, but they charge a dollar a piece and I would like to avoid that cost if I can. If you have some extra bottles around that you don't need right now please help me out.

Try restaurants like Old Chicago or anyplace that sells beer in bottles. I scored many a Grolch bottle that way.

Also, if you have a microbrewery nearby, they can't re-use anything that they pour samples from, and sometimes you can get those or their "Low Fills" for free or cheap.

You might also try Craigslist. Back when I only had a few bottles I put a 'wanted' ad on Craigslist for empty beer bottles and there were a few people looking to get rid of them (and it was free!).

$1 a piece? That's robbery! austinhomebrew is only like $13 for a 24 pack.

$1 a piece for standard 12 oz bottles? I pay less than that for 16 oz swing locks. I would seriously look for a better source.

Ask your friends that drink non-twist offs for bottles, raid the recycling bins on recycling day.

I am in the buffalo, NY area and for 24 12 0z bottles at the brew store it was 12.99. I bought them because being a college student I didn't think I would have the time to drink 20 more bottles with my schedule this week.

beer distributor. returnables in the NY area you might get lucky I'm in PA maybe travel to PA and look. I have cases of old genny and kochs 16oz returns I've used for years. just saw some last week at a local beer dist. clean well - strip the labels and they have that I've been drunk out of for 100 years look which is cool IMO oh and $2 a case.

I've found someone via Craigslist who has a couple hundred bottles in their basement that have been their for a couple years. Should I be concerned about the grime in these bottles, or as long as I do a good job cleaning and sanitizing should these bottles be good to go?

you should be good with plenty of oxyclean. give them a good rinse with one of those bottle washer things, and maybe a scrub with a bottle brush, but they should be fine.

What type of bottle washer thing are you talking about? The only tools I have been using is a pipe cleaner type tool for inside and a scrub brush for the labels.
