Beer backed up into co2 line

Hi, I filled my corny keg up too high and when I went to carbonate beer (after awhile) back flowed into my co2 line. I disconnected/ cut off the co2 line from the barbs on both ends, un clamped and cleaned w Star Sand. My question here is should I wait for the co2 line to dry out before I hook everything back up? Antsy to get back to carbonating my new beer! Thanks!
