So recently my older brother got injured in afghanistan (he'll be ok he crushed his leg pretty good) he's in a German hospital in Germany . My older brother is master gunny usmc has always been my hero since he joined the marines 22 years ago. He has left his two girls and his wife many of times. No matter how old I get (I'm 34) I still find myself feeling like a lil kid always looking at him. I know this is not the way he wanted to go and retire from the marines. So to all my fellow home brewers I ask you raise your mugs and thank the troops with a mug salute . And give a brew to a troop.
My brothers favorite home brew of mine is an English bitter. So I got word today he won't be home for six weeks. Perfect timing for me to brew a batch

Stepson just returned from his second tour in Afghanistan. Many thanks to the men and women who bravely serve this Country.

I was at the airport at Raleigh on Friday traveling home. Had an hour to burn. Dropped into a bar which had a Hef an Dunkelweizen on tap so I figured I had the right place. Only seat was next to an attractive young woman with a few piercings and a lot of tats (I've got a few myself) We started talking and she was a medic on leave. (she wasn't in uniform) She had recently returned from Afghanistan from her second tour. I spent 8 years in the Army so we had a nice long talk, and I bought her a couple Hef's to thank her and her husband for their service.

Beer to your Brother, and Thanks to all the Brothers in arms for their service.

Cheers to you and your brother, my son is a Marine, he did 7 months in afgan last year, going back in january. God Bless our Troops. Can't wait for him to be here to brew with me, he is in North Carolina right now.

Cheers.

I recently bottled a Cream Stout in honor of my son-in-law who is presently in Iraq. He will be getting two weeks leave this summer, so it should be ready to enjoy when he gets here.

Wow, a master gunnery sgt is about as tough as they come. Cheers to him!!!

I hope that your brother's medical condition continues to improve. We all owe a great debt to the service our soldiers do for their country. I think you have an excellent idea of brewing something for his return.

Cheers! Your brother deserves a brew from all of us! Make sure he knows how much his sacrifice means. It takes a special breed to do what he has done. I thank him personally.....even though I have never met him!

Cheers!

I'm not military but I live in a military town and I offer my homebrew to the solders when I see them. Thanks to everyone who has served. And maybe one day we won't have to be the world police to protect our freedom. Cheers.

I've got a buddy in the Marine Corps over in Afghanistan. Before he left, I told him I'd save one brew from every batch I make for him so he doesn't miss out...

+1 to this thread. A toast to all the troops, thanks for keeping us safe, and allowing us to be free to homebrew! I raise my glass to your brother.

Thank you. He is a true hero. He saved two other marines a few years back in Okinawa japan when two marines fell off a ship that was docking he jumped in after them and performed CPR on one of the men in the water as the boat was smashing him up against the docks. He truly is a great brother. And a great marine they have taken care of him and his family. I know he's pissed because this is not the way he wanted to end his career. But the marines promised him they are going to make sure everything is going to be fine. I hope they do. And god bless the other troops on this thread. I raise my American glass filled with American beer to you all.
