Hi, I'm Tim Vaughan, a beekeeper from San Luis Obispo county in CA. I make several hundred bottles of meads every year and am thinking about trying other things like vineager and beer.

I took a small shed and insulated it, put in a few shelves, scrounged a few carboys, spent 16 dollars on ebay for a corker....you get the idea :) But I've got it down to a total of an hour for a 25 bottle batch, from start to drinking, so I haven't had to spend too much time and money. I fear beer will take both more time and more equipment, so I've been postponing it and reading up on it hoping to find some really simple techniques that will still produce first rate beer.

Welcome to the forum! My brother attended Cal Poly for a couple of years, had some good times when I visited.

it does if you want it to, start with the basics to get you technique down,, build your own equipment if are the handy sort and you'll save some bucks. I've had some fun making a few meads, but I truely enjoy brewing a good beer
