So I was reading a discussion about george clooneys nipples that led to a discussion of who should be the next batman villain.

Two-face died and Joker will never act again, so I was checking out the list here:

List of Batman Family enemies - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Batman villains SUCK!

Man-bat would be my choice, but they can't pull that off with the new "realistic" Batman trend.

Catwoman has been done before (very well, I thought...and then halle barry destroyed her so...that's over) and I'm not a big fan of the Penguin.

Harley Quinn would be kind of bad-ass, but not without the Joker.

What does everyone else think? Yep, I'm bored.

I was wondering about this too just the other day . . . I really have no idea who it can/will be. especially with the 'realistic' turn the series took.

maybe two face isn't really dead????

maybe Harley Quinn could be introduced as a crazed fan of the Joker . . .

maybe the mad hatter but that might be a little too corny.

You know, the joker is out for a while, until someone can truly replace Heath Ledger's fantastic performance (whether you liked all the press or not he was way better than anyone else has ever portrayed the freakiness of Joker). Not being a comic book guy, I can't say much in the way of who, but is Two-Face dead as of the last movie? Seems to me that he just began. You have to remember that all of the new movies are before the original movies, so everyone is just getting started. Could be 10 years or one year, but it is before. So it depends on the quantity of pre-sequals

Yeah, but he was DEAD. It was pretty clear, and I don't think this new trend would lend itself to those old shams.

The Joker was perfect. He was magnificently portrayed as the maniacal, sadistic, vicious madman from the comics...put into a realistic light, of course. I don't think they can bring him back without Ledger.

Maybe Bane!? I almost forgot about Bane...

I could go with Bane. That is "believeable" in todays society. I think that DC will come up with a new and improved nemesis. Maybe take from Batman Beyond or the new ones that they have been doing where it is super future batman. Not that the new movies would be in the future, because movies always bastardize everything. Jurrasic Park is an amazing book and movie, though not similar in any ways other than the Dinosaurs.

Maybe Harley Quinn. Get a hot young female in the part and you have a blockbuster again!

The story is already there:

Bane (comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bane breaks Batman's back and Azrael comes in to defend Gotham. He becomes increasingly violent and starts killing people until Wayne is healed and decides to return as Batman. Death, destruction, chaos, villainy, abashment, torment, suffering, betrayal, return, and recompense leaves you with a very tormented hero with new conviction.

We'd have to hear Bruce Wayne whine a little more, but I think I can handle that again.

Man...makes me want to read these comics again...I wonder if I can download them...

It definitely needs a girl, too. Catwoman is out, and we can't have Harley Quinn without Joker...although they could make that VERY hot and creepy at the same time...maybe she's after him for revenge...trying to unlock the Joker or something. Meh...there needs to be a love in this story.

Ya know, come to think of it...R'as al Ghul could still be alive...you never actually see him die. Holy crap...I didn't remember her at all:

Talia al Ghul - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

R'as is still alive. ;)

But remember, the Joker isn't dead as a character, only Heath Ledger. So Harley Quinn could "contact" the joker offscreen throughout the movie and could be HOT. Bane might be the way to go.

I don't think that would work as well, she's not a love interest...I'd like to see some crazy chick run around in tights trying to get the Joker out of jail, tho. Creepy and hot.

The Joker could operate as a hidden character operating out of Arkham Asylum.
Before his capture, he may have influenced several psychopaths and put them and some evil plan in motion.

If they burn out and fail --- chaos.
If they grasp the flame and succeed in their plans --- chaos.

Multiple mini-villains to torment the Dark Knight.

oh.

let's not forget Frank Miller's take in this.

If things get too bad storywise, Metropolis isn't that far away.

I liked the last Batman movie, but it was just too long. Frankly, I have no real interest in seeing another. Joker made the last one. I'll decide to see it when they start showing previews. They will have to work hard to win my money.

I have a feeling they are going to go with Catwoman or The Riddler (Michael Cane has hinted at The Riddler). Yes, sadly Two-Face is dead. Both Chris Nolan and the pritty boy who played him confirmed it.

I would love to see Angelina Jolie as Catwoman....

I like the Bane idea. Knightfall was a great storyline. They could also tie in the Nightwing character if they wanted to, although they'd probably mess it up.

Anyone like the idea of resurrecting the Scarecrow?

In any event, I like that the next film will be leading Batman down a darker path where he will be needing to fight in the shadows. It should be interesting.

I would like to see Batman have to face Batbat.

Batbat is like batman except he is half bat and half bat. He would absolutely destroy Batman in a face-off if the issue was who was more like a bat.

Alright, I'm putting my foot down.

Angelina Jolie cannot be Catwoman. Catwoman has a nice ass.

Kal-el should stay in Metropolis where he is needed.

The Riddler would probably suck. When did Michael Caine hint at that?

Scarecrow has been done. It worked very well in the first movie and he was captured in the second. He's a pretty weak character and can't stand up against Batman.

Black Mask might work and The Mad Hatter could even be done well.

But, damnit, Bane would be great! And Azrael, and R'as and his daughter. I'm writing a letter...if they don't make it for #3, it should be in #4! :D

I had heard rumors of Johnny Depp stepping up as the next Riddler.

Two Face is not dead. The movie did a good job of leaving the fate of Two Face and The Joker being undecided. It was essentially the beginning of both of those characters. I don't see either one of them being gone from the series.

Two-Face was dead. Harvey Dent killed tons of people, Batman took the fall for it, now he has to work in the shadows. He's the hero Gotham needs, but not the one it deserves, remember? I don't think they can bring him back.

Johnny Depp as the Riddler...a la creepy Willy Wonka? Hrm...maybe...

Two-Face was dead. Harvey Dent killed tons of people

He killed a few corrupt cops....who hasn't wanted to do that once or twice? He may have been dead. They even did the funeral thing with Gordon giving the eulogy, but Gordon was supposedly dead too.

They clearly showed his face after he'd died. They talked about making him a martyr...it'll be the entire premise for the new movies. Batman will no longer have the support of the police. Harvey Dent gave Gotham hope. I just don't see them bringing him back, and I don't think it would work very well.

I agree, I think Dent is dead. Has anybody mentioned the penguin? Not the Danny ********* Devito penguin, but that is a character that could be pretty maniacle if cast properly.

I was originally thinking it would be the riddler. If they can find somebody to pull off what Ledger did with the Joker with the Riddler that would be awesome.

I vote for either the Penguin or the Riddler.

You may be right, but The Dark Knight didn't really showcase the criminal element of Two Face. It showed the bright and shiny side of Harvey Dent, and only briefly touched on the dark side of Two Face with the elimination of corrupt law enforcement.

I think Ra's Al Guhl will always be around in some way. After all, he is supposedly supposed to live forever. Didn't the movie make it seem like his identity is passed down from person to person? Isn't that how they explain his immortality, or am i thinking of something else?

No, he used "cheap parlor tricks" to conceal his true identity. He said that the League of Shadows had been around for generations, establishing order, but didn't state whether he had been there throughout that time. I think he said "we have always been here."

I don't like the Riddler...he's just like the Joker, but not quite as crazy with an even more ridiculous outfit.

Penguin could work, but I think I've had enough of Oswald Cobblepot.
