Hey guys,

I have an idea in my head and just wondered if people have done it before or would know if it would work.

My plan was get a couple 5 litre oak barrels age some homebrew wine (Cabernet or merlot or pinot noir) in one and some whiskey in another. Then brew something like a RIS or Belgian strong and when I take out the stuff out of the barrels and put the beer into the barrels and age until enough flavour is imparted.

When I feel they're ready blend the different barrels with some clean beer.

So what do you guys think of this. Would it work?

Cheers in advance for any replies
AJ

I think you have a pretty solid plan. Do you plan to char the whiskey barrel first?

Where are you sourcing the barrels from as I am interested in the same thing.

I'm based in Ireland, nothing has been set in stone yet I just wanted to get some advice or even if it is worth pursuing. Even seen a couple places online that sell them.
