So I purchased a duda diesel plate chiller a few weeks ago with all four fittings 3/4" barb. I realized this was a mistake because all of my other valves have 1/2" fittings and I will need to run 1/2" tubing from my kettle through the chiller. Is there a way to convert barb fittings to threaded or QD instead? Thanks

Not really. I have a similar situation with a pump I bought that has built-in barbed connectors on the pump head.

You might try squeezing 1/2" tubing on there, though. It MIGHT fit. The only other possibility is using 3/4" tubing to 3/4" barbs on either side, then using 3/4->1/2 reducers to get to the right size threaded fittings.

If you have 1/2" silicone hose you can squeeze this over the 3/4" barbs. I have done it. Make sure the inside of the hose has some water on it to lube it a little.

It's 3/4 hose barb.

There is an option for you. You get a 3/4 ID piece of tubing and slide it on, then get a 3/4 barb fitting that has a female 1/2 NPT input, then get a 1/2 barb with 1/2 male NPT pipe fitting, screw them together. You now have your barb converter.

The silicone solution is easier though, and cheaper, just dont tear your tubing.

Or if the valve @ the BK is 1/2 NPT you can just switch to 3/4 hose. Probably not that far of a run. Drop to 1/2 hose barb after the chiller if you need to get down in size to match the rest of your hoses.
