To date I've only bought new AEB kegs so they have been perfect.
As I expand the beers I'm kegging and conditioning, I found several older ball lock kegs used by the Pepsi company for Cheerwine kegging. The fellow who is selling me several says Pepsi pressure tested the kegs to 130 psi so they have at least been tested that much, and if they blew a hole, they were tossed.
He says they all need gaskets for sure, but besides that, they should be ok as far as he knows. Just to be on the safe side with used kegs, I plan to buy a short list of parts that I'll probably need during my initial rebuild, and if not, later down the road I'll have them.
Dip tube, ball lock posts, o rings, lid w/relief valve, poppets all come to mind to have in my repair kit locker. Is there an industrial supply house that sells all of these parts? I know most online beer stores may have them, but the prices may be a bit on the high side. McMaster Carr? Is there a one stop place to sell me this rebuild inventory? Thanks!!
