HB99, damn you picked a bad weekend. I got company coming that weekend.
I'd love to sit and chew the fat with ya some time .

D.B. has the best beer pub suggestion in my opinion. The Draught House is very good and the Gingerman is also a good pick. Pick up some Real Ale Rio Blanco Pale Ale if you have a chance they sell it in the H.E.B grocery stores if you see one.

The Live Oak Brewery does tours Mon-Thur . 10:00- 2:00 best times to scedule.

I didn't pick anything...my Uncle Sam says go...the soldiers need you again! :D

Thanks for the leads on the pubs and beers. I'll do my best to check them out. I only have the weekend since I'll be working at Ft. Hood for 2 weeks. I have friends up there that I've been stationed and deployed with. We're going to do some partying up there (Killeen) also.

I really don't do brewery tours anymore...similar to castles in Europe...how many can you really appreciate after the first 100 or so? After a while they're all (basically) the same. :D

What's the DB? I must have missed that one.

I'm thinking about getting a room in SA for me and the wife and doing Austin on the way back to Killeen on Sunday.

Well it seems The Draught House is a popular pick. I've never been, so Bill if you'd rather go there I'm open to new pubs! :)
That's fine with me...I mean...I'm the tourist here! It'll probably be Sunday as we are planning a day in San Antonio (still looking for a hotel) on Sat.

Is there a game going on next Sat? Seems like a lot of places are booked.

Sudster just told me you guys are brewing together today. Have one for me!

Sorry about the confusion earlier about the age thing. But to give you a short idea of me, I cut my 16 inch ponytail off last year (I had a ponytail in the 60s - cut it off, the 70s - cut it off, the 80s cut it off, the 90s - cut it off, and cut this last one off in 2004), I play guitar, mostly classic rock, 70s-80s, I have 5 working guitars, 3 amps, and about a dozen effects pedals, I brew beer and I retire in less than 4 years!

Unless I scared you away, then all the small talk is over...now, let's drink something dammit! :drunk:

Judging from EL. P's portrait I think he is beyond psycho. :D

Well, I'm in the last hour of my Wee-Heavy ..4 hr boil..my brewing bud adios'd on me..can't really blame him. He stayed for 7 hrs . He hung in there for the most part though. I think he enjoyed the beer.... a 4 hour boil is almost too much for me to bear.

So after 7 or 8 hours, how do you hang in there for the clean-up. :( I usually bale, and risk the wrath of SWMBO. :D

I worked for a while in a funny farm...I related very well to my "clients". :D

I'm drinking a wee heavy now that I'm kind of proud of. Can I bring you a couple for a critique...I'm thinking I could meet you in Luling or somewhere some evening when you're on the way home from work?

Absolutely, my friend. Just say when.

That's why I brew on Saturday's. I leave the clean up for Sunday.

My garage is mine..no one elses.. and I can sleep there to if I have to. :D

Bill , just how big is that porch? EL. P. , do you snore?

A "walk-out" is where you walk out the door and you're on the ground level. No stairs, just patio and yard. The deck is actually on the second floor.

I have 2 couches in the basement, a 65" HDTV :D and a German Eckbank (corner bench with table and extra chairs)...that's one huge room. There are 5 more rooms down there if you include the bathroom and 2 storage rooms (I have one for my fridge and beer supplies).

We actually spend most of our time (except for the "occasional" napping before bedtime) downstairs. When we have 20+ people over everyone is downstairs.

My house is over 2800 SF and I pay taxes on over 2 acres. :D

c'mon, c'mon. any good/bad brews?????????????????/

We haven't been there yet...SA/Austin is this weekend.

I'm still working at Ft. Hood. I can't believe they closed the place down this afternoon because of the icy rain.

I am drinking a Fat Tire Amber Ale at the moment...nice biscuit flavor. Something I'm not used to, but can enjoy for a bit. A nice body.

I have a 2-3 Shiner Bocks left upstairs also. They're OK. I don't care what the advertisement says on the bottle, it might have come from a Bavarian Bock recipe, but it DOES NOT taste like a German Bock. :(

Sudster: I like the place too! I've put a lot of sweat into it, but there's more to go. After I finish the bathrooms and redecorate my kitchen I need to seriously think about tiling the basement floor. The village plumber used to date the owners daughter. He asked about buying the place from her. She said 240K. We returned from Germany when I first noticed it, but it was more than I was willing to spend. When she dropped down to 150 I started to seriously think about it. (Houses don't usually sell for that much in this area). With all the work etc, I offered 130, she countered for 138 and accepted. That's the short story. We've put a lot of sweat into it which saved us a lot of $$$. It's not where we want it yet, but I have been on the road (this makes) 21 weeks this year (next week is week 22, but then I'm on Christmas vacation for 2 weeks). I want to finish the master bathroom before Christmas and the brew kitchen after.

Next years travel should be more relaxed, but I was just told yesterday about Ft Bliss/El Paso in Feb for 2 weeks...anyone brew out in El Paso way? :D

Not sure if you are an experienced tiler but if you need any help let me know I've done quite a few tile jobs and can answer questions. Did a job this week in San Antonio for this turn of the century mansion. Did the backsplash of an entire kitchen with 1"x1" tiles. Turned out beautiful but was a pain because they had 8 power outlets they just put in. She paid over $600 for the tiles alone. The craftsmanship of houses built then is just amazing.
