Is there any types of apples that make good cider i can get in a regular grocery store?

In the hands of a good cidermaker, any apple can make good cider.

Philosophy aside, try a 50/50 mix of dessert/sweet apples and tart apples. It should give you something to work with.

For my last batch I was able to find Jonagold and Newton Pippins, both organic, at my local natural food store. Both varieties are good varieties...
