aple summer ale?

Hi!
The brewing guild is inviting to a summer beer contest, I am planning a Wienna lager, Kölsh, og a big wave clone for the main contest.

For the freestyle contest I am planning an Aple ale. Does anyone have an idea about the best alestyle to spike with aples? Would gravenstein work? What hops would mix well with aple?

Mt Hood and Liberty hops work well with apple. Really it depends on the style of beer you're making though.

It's still aging but the samples taste great. Not sure what kinds of apples it uses though.
