Anyone Grow English Hops in San Diego?

I have been trying to grow Goldings for the past couple years without much luck. Has anyone had any luck growing any English hop variety? Please give me your suggestions and let me know if you would like to trade some rhizomes as I am going to try again.

I have:
-Cascade
-Chinook
-Centennial
-Magnum
or Beer (some nice sours upon request)

P.S. Also looking for Saaz or Styrian Goldings if anyone wants to trade that.

I think the climates are too different to have much success with English varieties in San Diego. English varieties, as far as I know, prefer cool and damp conditions. Maybe if you have the right micro-climate in your yard it could work (afternoon shade, shaded soil around the crowns) but even with those factors accounted for those Santana winds are going to play havoc with them come August and September. Soil PH might be lower in England, too...It'd be great to hear otherwise, though. EKG's would be awesome, too!

I can't even get Willamette to grow in N. San Diego County. Seems like the C's do best around these parts, although, I'm holding out hope that my Tettnanger hops will produce cones this year.

I'd try growing them in a place where they are protected by some shade. They seem to do better that way. When it gets closer to growing season, I'll let you know if I have any cuttings from Goldings or Fuggles.

That was my thought for this year. I was thinking of trying 2 different things this year.

I have a friend that will grow some with me in a spot that only receives about 4-6 hrs of direct sun in Summer. And if the vine grows to 5' or above it will receive closer to 8 hrs, so I thought this would help to shade the crown.

My other idea was to grow them again in direct sun, but cover with a shade cloth.
I really would like to fresh hop an English Bitter.
