I did one on Tuesday. The direction says in 4-6 day bubbling will stop. My bubbling stopped today. Should I let it sit a few more days then put it in the secondary?

I think almost everyone has done a Brewer's Best kit at some point!

Those are good general directions, but your beer will benefit from a bit of extra conditioning past the most active part of fermentation, so you really should leave it a bit longer than 4-6 days.

The vast majority of experienced brewers agree that 2-3 weeks in primary is the best practice for most ale styles. Be patient and leave this one in primary for at least 14 days, and you'll be rewarded with better beer.

Good luck!

I did 2 brewers best kits, amber ale. The one was fermented 2 weeks the other 3 weeks. The 3 week was much better. Took that advice from lhbs.

If I'm doing secondary should I let it sit that long in my primary?

No need to do a secondary...3 weeks in the primary. Rack to a bottle bucket, prime, and bottle. Careful not to stir up the yeast cake/sediment.

If dry hopping yes secondary. If not dry hopping let sit 3 weeks.
That's what I've done.
If you want to secondary, why do you want to?

Since im new to brewing I just fallowing the directions. My first beer I did a secondary.

It's a preference not a right and wrong. Some love secondaries and others don't. Try it both ways and then do what u like. Benefits to both styles.

Sure. If thats what your prefer. I simply said there wasnt a *need* to...certainly not with an extract kit. Any beer will benefit from the aging regardless.

I only secondary for bigger beers or when I do additions. Its a preference but an extra step that I avoid and replace with more brewing. More brewing is goooood.

That would be a cool experiment. Do a brew with a secondary. Do the same brew without. Do you notice a difference? What do you like better.

that's a cool idea. I'm going to do that in april i think. I normally secondary as i like the clarity (oh and I love to dry hop), but would be curious on the taste diffference.

I get perfectly clear beer with no secondary. I do sometimes stick the primary in the fridge after 3 weeks to cold crash and then transfer to a keg. Wish I didn't drown my phone because I had a good pic of a crystal clear cream of the crops brew.

Experimenting is part of the fun of home brewing for me. Its like cooking.

4 weeks primary, no secondary, no fining, no cold crashing

I like the brewers best summer ale. That should be available again soon. I think I will try the experiment with that one, primary only vs secondary.
