Anybody in Columbus OH got an impact wrench

I have a ball lock keg with posts that will not come off. The previous owner must have been Hulk Hogan. Does anyone In the columbus area have a impact wrench that wouldnt mind helping me get these suckers off?

I'm west about 20 miles and I have an impact. But it is attached to my 60 gallon upright air compressor. However, I'll be home on Saturday if you'd like to take a short drive.

If you have a compressor you can pick one up cheap at Harbor Freight tools. Use it and take it back...

wrench or socket, are you using? if you have a wrench place the next size up (the round) on the open face of the wrench and it will give you a longer arm, which will produce more torque, or if your using a socket and ratchet wrench, put a pipe or something that is sturdy with that you can slide over the wrench handle and that will give you more torque as well...

if you do this you can typically create more torque than a impact gun.

I am going to buy a 12 pt socket and give it a try with a pipe first. Ive been wacking it with a happer and a wrench and im starting to wear down the edges so im hoping a socket will help keep it from slipping and breaking it down further. Already planning on getting new posts if these show any more signs of wear. Hopefully i can get it off before i ruin a keg

It takes a big ass pipe to get more torque than my 900 lb-ft impact. That would be a 4.5 feet long handle, assuming you are able to exert 200 pounds of force at the end. Then there is the problem of holding the keg.....

PM me if you don't get it. And 6 point sockets round off less than 12 points.

I'd try to apply a little heat to the keg first. Not to the fitting, rather to the area surrounding it. Use a 6 point socket and gradually increase the torque. An impact might cause the fitting to shear off leaving the threads untouched. Be careful, no fittings can take very much torque without twisting apart.

true, but it couldn't be on that tight... something that tight would strip the treads right out

Absolutely correct. It has multiple settings, but you can apply force more delicately by hand.

any good-size hardware store should have an electric impact for rent. $12 or something.

Got them suckers OFF!! all it took was a 12 pt deep socket (bought it before I read 6 pt would be better), a 2 ft pipe, couple of beers and an almost hernia. I had tried heating the top half in my brew pot with near boiling water with soap added thinking it might be some dried syrup but after a 24 hr soak it did nothing. The dip tube was twisted out of the dimple in the bottom before i got it off which was a good indication it was just over tightened. After i got them off you could tell the o-ring on the dip tubes were ripped up from it being screwed too tight. Thanks everyone for the offers and the advice
