im looking around on the net, and seeing lots of nice kegging equipment. but it got me to wondering about useing something found around here to make a keg of my own. i see whats called a "Beer Pig" on ebay "the name itself has been used to describe me by my wife :)" and it looks to me, that of that works, i cound probably find a 5 gallon pail or mabey even use a carboy to make one of those. has any one here done such a thing? this isnt about being cheap, just mabey a nice project. id be interested in any pictures or ideas ppl have, or have had. enjoy fellas. :)

Buying a corney is so cheap, I can't imagine why you'd want to do anything else unless you don't have room. You can get them for around $15.

like a said, it isnt about saveing money, just a project. i do understand that you would have to carbonate it with sugar. but i do agree, if your going to force carbonate you keg, it might just as well be best to have the proper equipment like a corny.

Well, if you think of something, let us know. But if your itching for a project, check out Yuri Rage's stuff. He's got about a dozen great projects that will save you some bucks and help your brewing.

The biggest problem is neither a carboy or a bucket can handle the pressure.

If you want to do a project, look into making your own wood casks for "real ale".

You could always weld up a stainless steel homemade keg. As long as the point is a project rather than saving money.
