I got my new 15 gallon Bayou Classic Kettle with thermometer and Ball Valve and the instructions of installing the ball valve where ****e.... I've done one brew with it and it went fine.

Last night, I had filled my kettle with water and did a test boil on my brand new induction cook top. After the boil was over, I just left the water in the kettle and went to bed. I woke up this morning with a small puddle of water on the floor and an obvious drip where the ball valve went into the kettle... Yes I used two to the orange gaskets that came with it, one on each side. But there was also a white gasket that was with it also and I am not sure if I used it in the right place.

Thanks for the help.

Any pictures of both the inside and outside of the valve? I'm sure that would help diagnose.

Is that white bit more rigid? If so it probably goes on the outside of the kettle so that you can get some compression on the outside gasket. I think the curvature of the inside would keep it from laying flush against the wall and prevent a good seal. And your lock nut should have a bit of a lip to press against the inside gasket. Just my imediate thoughts without being able to see it.

Yes, it is more rigid and I did place it on the outside. I am at work right now, so can't snap a picture.

probably just need to tighten it. heat cycling can cause those weldless fittings to loosen up. I always check mine before I brew. The bulkhead fitting for my ball valve needs tightening every once in a while but my sight glass is always fine since i'm never tugging on it like my ball valve (opening and closing it, attaching and removing hoses etc)

Good to know. This is my first kettle with a ball valve.

My experiences have been different. I expected to have to mess around with the weldless seals in my brewing setup but have been presently suprised that over the years my weldless fittings (and yes I have 2 15.5g bayou kettles with ballvalves as well as a third 15g bayou ) I have about 15 weldless fitings in them since mines an electric setup with float switches and such. I only use the red silicone orings on the insides of my kettles and a large washer against my ballvalves to add rigidity and prevent the force from opening and closing from bending anything. most of my stuff came from bargainfittings.com. the bayou kettles come with BPS threads since they are imported and they dont thread up to standard stuff well.

I was less than pleased with the instructions myself and haven't been able to find anything online to assist.
