A friend of mine really has an interest in starting to brew. He doesn't want to do extract and would like to go straight to AG. His wife wants to buy a kit for his birthday but doesn't want to piece it together if possible. There are plenty of starter kits out there for extract, but I haven't been able to come across one for AG.

This one from Williams Brewing seems decent, but the pot may be a bit small at 32qt and no MLT. Although for an additional 80 buck he can build his own.

Anyone have any idea where she could get everything in one package for him?

Get a basic brewing kit, a big ol' sturdy kettle and propane burner, and a gift certificate to Home Depot so he can build the rest of the stuff he needs!

I would suggest a $500 gift certificate from one of the reputable major suppliers. This will allow the guy to select the equipment that fits his style and if he's like most of us, he will also experience the pleasure of building his system. He may want to go big on some high dollar items and hold off on others until down the road a bit. Let him have some creative input. So, I say if she goes with the gift certificate, a steak and a BJ she can't go wrong.
