Hi,

Some guy named Todd said this was a nice place, so I registered. ;)

Anyhow, MD native living in Hangover---I mean, Hanover, PA. Work in Gaithersburg, MD. Been brewing for 4 years, 62 batches (10 extract, 52 AG). Married with 2 kids, wife's pretty tolerant of the obsession...er, hobby. :D

Cheers!

PA rocks...nuff said :D

Are you in Harrisburg?

PA's got a lot of excellent breweries and good beer...that earns major points in my book. Trying to talk the wife into going to the Harrisburg Brewer's Fest in 2 weeks.:D

Thanks!

10 gallons of dry stout tomorrow morning, hopefully some barleywine after that. Hopefully working on my kegerator once the SWMBO gets home after work tonight... ;)

I just joined the group today, and I'm also from PA (Phoenixville - Philly suburbs). I still don't really know what I'm doing yet, just bought some decent (second hand) equipment. I think I have everything I need to get started. Will try some extract batches first then try the all grain stuff. I'm also growing my own hops (cascade, northern brewer, nugget, and centenial) - they are looking good, cascade growing the fastest. If anyone lives near me and would like to help me do my first all grain batch, or trade (and possibly in the future get some free fresh, locally, and organically grown hops) let me know!

Welcome (I just got here :D )

Pheonixville...mmmmmm, Sly Fox Brewing. Great place!

Cheers!

Yea, and just a few months ago Iron Hill opened up on Bridge street. Good stuff. I've tried their sampler which has a crazy number of brews (something like 20 small glasses for $4). I love their Ironbound Ale. The guys at the local brew supply shop were raving about something they make called "Kryptonite" which I haven't tried. Here's a quote about it from the brewshop's newsletter:

"This ridiculously hoppy ale will take you to new places
in brewing. Derived directly from Larry’s original recipe, hops
are added to the mash, during wort runoff, in the boil, at
knockout, through a hopback, and in the fermenter, twice!"

I guess it can't get any hoppier than that ;)
The brewshop sells a kit for it developed by its creator over at Iron Hill Brewery - apparently they have a real good relationship with them.
