They did the work. And it sounds like most will be used locally. Fine by me.

Not being used locally. But only used by their craft breweries. Wicked Weed, Blue Point, Goose Island etc.

From the article, "More than 90 percent of our South African-grown hops will be used in local brands Castle Lager and Castle Lite"

Oh, no problem. I still have a couple pounds of hops in the freezer to get me through the next few months. No need to spot a trend that threatens my favorite hobby. No need to think about the future of craft beer -- beyond next week. No need to stop supporting the mega-companies that stomp on the things we love. I still have a couple pounds in the freezer. And just yesterday I saw lots of craft beer available for purchase too. Oh, no problem.

I will only start to panic when the hop farms that produce proprietary American hops sell out to InBev.

Funny, I was wondering where you got the information about them being used locally. I believe that was added after I read the article.
Either way I don't care, I've never used those hops and there are plenty of options. It's just funny how they blocked the hops from being used by any other breweries. Just another reason for people to hate on ABI.

Why shouldn't they? As much as the "craft" industry sh!ts (not without some reason mind you) on AB it makes sense since they own production now.

I am actually more surprised to learn that they were a SAB Miller product and that they were sharing.
