Just wanted to say hi to all my newfound, fellow homebrewers out there!

I'm Erick from Milwaukee; got a basic starter kit from the LHBS as a Christmas gift and haven't looked back!

My first batch was a Cooper's Euro Lager extract kit. It came out good, except for the fact that I didn't notice I topped off the wort with an extra gallon of water until after the fact. Came out to be a light beer, but not bad for a first try.

Second batch was Northern Brewer's Nontraditional Sustainor Bock. It also came out pretty good, but has borderline IPA taste. That's not a bad thing, but not what I was expecting. It tasted very similar to Lakefront Brewery's Bridge Burner(side note: If you can find a bottle of Bridge Burner, snatch it up and enjoy!).

Third batch was Brewer's Best IPA and I just bottled last weekend so we'll see how it turns out in a couple weeks. I dry hopped with some extra hops from my next batch to brew to add a little boost of flavor.

My fourth batch is Northern Brewer's Bavarian Hefeweizen. It's sitting in the primary now and looking pretty good. I plan on keeping this one in the primary then straight to bottles to see how it turns out without the secondary.

My next batch is Northern Brewer's Surly Cynic (Partial Mash Pro Series) clone kit. It's my first partial mash and I'm excited to venture into new techniques. I would like to move to all grain soon and I think this is the perfect first step.

Feel free to ask me about myself or my first batches....

And a HUGE thanks for all the info I've taken in so far, HBT community!!!!!!!

Hey, Erick...welcome to the insanity we call BREWING! I was born and raised in Milwaukee...when it had FOUR breweries going strong! My hope is to return to my home state in the not-too-distant future. Again, welcome!
