My Android phone updated last night and I've had nothing but problems since. The biggest problem is that touch commands don't work. I get the message "Chrome is not optimized for this version and touch commands may be delayed". I'm having to reboot my phone to close apps. I can't access Playstore to update Chrome without a password that I forgot years ago, or a fingerprint, which the phone will not accept. Side button functions are different. That's just what I ran into between 5 and 8 this morning. No telling what else is jacked up.
If you can avoid it, don't download this update.

I know UI 7 was garbage and was released without much testing and was quickly replaced by UI 8. Although I'm not a fan of the new battery status icon, a lot of what was updated is useful.

If you don't like the newest flavor, you're pretty much out of luck. It will be pushed to all modern androids. I wouldn't pass judgment on an update for something they have no control over. Maybe something as simple as a password reset could fix your woes.

That's awful, Corky. I've never seen anything like you're describing. I hope it somehow gets resolved, else you may need (ulp!) a different phone.

fwiw, running an older phone with an older version of Android means no system updates. That's usually a bad thing 'cuz no O/S security patches. But it does keep one safe from destructive updates. No help to you in the moment, of course.

It just might be possible to roll back to an older version. Meanwhile, you'll probably need to use some other device to reset your Google password.

The touch commands seem to have resolved the issue, but I haven't been on the phone much today. When I'm not half hungover but prepping for a dinner for 20 I'll deal with the password problem.

Come take a bite of the apple, it tastes pretty good…

Dang!

In case your trouble presages worse, I'm sorry bound as a (retired) IT professional to urge you to back up your important data to the cloud or an external device, if you haven't already.

You're not kidding. The Android 15 update broke the blutooth communication with my Easydens. I have to break out an older phone and prevent updates to make it a dedicated easydens display. To be honest, I'm not hating the idea that this old phone has a new dedicated purpose, but...

The Android system. In not allowing reversion to the previous, or the factory version, is a disaster waiting to happen.
After experience with various update fails over the years, I now always dismiss the update prompts.

It's criminal, that you can't stop them reminding you to update daily. Often at 5am. So I have to keep notification sounds turned off!
