I recently converted a keg to bottom drain and use as a mash tun. I have a 15" false bottom that works great, however, it seems like I have about .75 gallons of water underneath the false bottom where there is not contact with the grains. Using ~1.5 q to 1lb of grain, my mash is very thick. Should I add that deadspace volume of .75 gal to my amount of mash water since it's just sitting there not interacting with the mash?
