Alternative sanitizers and grapefruit seed extract

Hey Everybody,

I've gotten some complaints about the smell of diluted Iodophor and I'm wondering if there is anything less pungent out there?

Someone suggested grapefruit seed extract as a sanitizer. Has anyone tried it? Will it nuke my yeast? Will it nuke bad yeast and other nasties? Will it just make my beer taste like grapefruit?

StarSan is odorless and also highly effective.

I have no idea about grapefruit seed extract.

I agree with Steve about Star-San. The only other thing I will use is a homemade no rinse sanitizer in a pinch, but you have to let it set longer to work as well. Star-San bubbles and foams making it reach places other sanitizers can't.

Im useing grapefruit seed extract, because its what I have available to me, Is oderless and flavorless, I havent had any problems yet.

I have also heard really good things about star-san. its up to you.
