So I brewed a dunkelweizen yesterday and I filled my airlock with Vodka and placed it on my fermenter. When I came down and hour or so later I saw that the level in the airlock had lowered significantly, could vodka kill my yeast?

PS. I am not getting any krausen thus far or even any burping in the airlockthat is now filled with water:confused:

Thanks

I don't think a shot worth of vodka is enough alcohol to harm the yeast in 5 gallons. It's too diluted to worry about. What kind of yeast? Pitching temp? Pitching procedure?

haha ohhhhh I thought the airlock was just a glorfied shot glass whoops. Orfy you are truly wise beyond your years:D. I used Wyeast 3638 Bavarian Wheat Yeast. It was a smack pack but when I broke the pack it didn't swell like it had in the past. I made a starter and let that sit for 24 hours at 70 degrees and thats the temperature I pitched it at. I was reading though that sometime they don't swell considerably but I think I might just need to get some more yeast in there.
