Thanks Buddy. That's what drove me all those years - to give pleasure. Here's to one virtual chomp of ribeye bordelaise!

Why a "former life"? Isn't brewing cooking?

Absolutely right, jlinz. To me, I've said it elsewhere, I almost love the making of it more than the drinking of it. The smell of the mash as it begins to convert, that garden of hops....can't believe I've stayed away all these years. The cool thing about beer is that it's....BEER!. The cool thing about beer is that it's.....beer. The drink everyone can hoist without pretense.

I grew sick of French cooking, though I did it since 14 or so. Something for everyone to enjoy, you know?

I hear you. I just think of it all as cooking. You can cook French, a burger, whatever. You can also cook barley soup ;)

This is accurate for me as well. I think it is anticipation, which is probably the dopamine working. The process is more satisfying than the product, the journey to attaining something is more satisfying than the thing, and so on. I do love drinking great beer, but I remember moments during the process more often than moments when drinking.

Thanks for your posts, guys. Big wide world of brewers together, out there.
