The Blow-Out Club, that is.
SWMBO woke me up this morning with "Honey, I have some bad news. I went downstairs and smelled bread..."
Me: "Oh, no! Which one?" (I have 4 currently fermenting, 2 actively)
It ended up being Revvy's Belgian Blonde . I found a thick bubbling krausen mass overflowing onto the floor while the top of the fermenter was roughly 15 feet away.
I have no idea how long it was open like that. Last I checked on it was 4p yesterday and I was out of the house until 1a.
Regret #1: I bought Fermcap specifically to test on this batch but forgot to put it in.
Regret #2: I had a blow off tube ready to go sitting right next to it but forgot to switch it out with the airlock that I use when transporting from brew area to basement.
I sprayed down the bottom of the lid with the StarSan bottle that I keep around and resealed the fermenter.
Clean up wasn't too bad, though.
I did see a couple fruit flies in the basement while cleaning up but I don't know if any of their brethren went for a dip and got trapped. I probably should have taken a minute or two to see if any were floating on the krausen before sealing.
This is going to be an interesting batch to say the least.
