I was able to find a nice fairly new mini fridge locally for $50. The problem is this fridge comes with a freezer compartment so I will have to attempt to bend it down against the back wall.

I was hoping to get some advice from folks who were both successful and unsuccessful in doing so. Here is a pic of the fridge with the Freon line coming out in the back right and going up. It looks like I have about 3-4" of line coming out of the back.

My current strategy is to slowly heat the line with a hair dryer and support it with a 1.5-2" dia rod while initially letting its own weight help bend it down. Once it wont go any further, or if it doesn't at all, I will then attempt to slowly bend it myself around the rod, all while intermittently heating it with the hair dryer.

Let me know what y'all think.

Also - I was able to remove the thermostat from the wall so it shouldn't have any issue being in the way.

All the tutorials I have read say to just bend it slowly. I think yo have the right idea - especially using the dowel behind it - although 2 inches may be too big.
Found this which may help you.
