Hello all,

I am having trouble figuring out what kind of pump I would need to recirculate wort in my 8 gal mash tun. I have a false bottom and plan on applying direct heat to keep temp up.I can't seem to get a good handle of what kind of pump I would need to use to draw the wort up and onto the grain bed.

On a bit of a related side note, how would the beer taste differ if I added my grain and room temp water first and then direct heat recirculated the mash to my mash in temp rather than just infusing with hot water.

This has all been brought on, FYI, by this brew video with Will Wheaton:

Thanks again for all the help!

I saw that video and bought a chugger just like they use in the video. Works ok, darn hard to prime, but maybe I don't know what I am doing. I have to run some out the pump onto the ground to ever get it primed.
