I'm doing the NB brunch stout kit, and was thinking of adding oatmeal to the grains and doing a mini mash. I know normally I would need to add a lb of base grains for a lb of oatmeal to convert the starches, but with these grains is that still necessary?

1.25 lb English Roasted Barley
1 lb English Dark Crystal
.4 lb coffee malt
.35 lb English chocolate malt

Thanks!

I did a few "partial mash" and extract batches in which I used oatmeal. None of those beers really came out special. My first BIAB all grain batch with 1.5 lbs of oatmeal came out amazing. The texture is very similar to breakfast stout.

All of the malts you are using are very roasted. If you want to use oats, I'd add 2-3 lbs of 2-row and do a proper mini mash in the 150-158F range for at least 30 minutes.
