This will be my 10th or 12th extract kit brew. My setup is only one gallon. Tight for room with several gallons of country wines in process. This is my first year harvesting my Cascade hops. I want to add them to the extract kit, but when?
Thanks

it depends on if you want to add them in the boil or as a dryhop. Since you don't know what AA% they might be, adding to boil makes it hard to calculate IBUs. So from what I read, most folks use homegrown hops as late additions or dryhopping. And, it takes a lot more volume of whole cone hops to do the equivalent of pellets, so with a 1G system volume may be an issue. Good luck! Hope they turn out well.

The kit has 1/4 oz of Fuggle at start. I was thinking another . 15oz at 30min, .10 at 5min. The lupulin look and smell great. Where you saying the whole leaf suck up to much wort? Thanks

Yes, whole cone hops absorb more liquid. Also I believe it takes about 1.5 oz. of whole cones to get the equivalent of 1oz pellets. So if you are hoping for 1G at bottling time, you'll probably have to start off with 1.5G.
