I couldn't find a thread already about this, so if there is one feel free to just point me to it.

So I want to put a weld-less thermometer on my kettle. I already own a thermometer, not designed for brewing, but a good one. What do I need to buy to put it onto my kettle or is this not possible. Here is a picture of the back:

I'm not sure you can convert that to work on your kettle. I bought one meant to be a weld-less thermometer. all i did was drill a hole into the kettle and install it.

Here is what the one i got looks like.

They don't make thermowells for that type of thermometer, so you can't really install it into the side of the kettle and have it have any accuracy, as the probe would have to be snug with the thermowell.

But see, those compression fittings can accommodate a thermometer like yours, but not installed in the wall of the kettle, instead installed inline in a recirculating setup with a pump. That's an option, but I get the feeling you aren't there yet :)

You can put them in a kettle hence why they make a weldless fitting for thin wall last one on the right in the picture.

Thanks so much for the feedback. It seems for only 15 bucks more or so I can get the whole thermometer/weld-less connection shebang; always trying to save monies, but might save myself the risk of a fail and a headache in this case by going the easy way. Thanks again for the input o' mighty homebrewtalk gurus!
